Obituary

It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Alonzo "Buddy" Griffin who entered into rest July 4, 2024.


Mr. Griffin, a native of Edgefield County, was a former member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Ministry and Treasurer. Later he united with the Old Macedonia Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor in New York.


Survivors include his wife, Nancy Cooper Griffin of the home; two daughters, Alice Faye Griffin and Kimbely Griffin; a brother, John L. Griffin; a sister, Mary Sargeant; son-in-law, Raymond Smalls; three grandchildren, Chad A. Smalls, Jillian M. Smalls and Cameren A. Smalls; brother-in-law, Larry Cooper; sister-in-law, Brenda (Jessie) Purvus; an aunt, Roberta Buggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends


Funeral services will be held at 12 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Old Macedonia Baptist Church where the Rev. Dr. Leonard O. Griffin pastor and the Pastor Emeritus Rev. Limuer Myers eulogist.. Viewing will be held from 2 pm to 5:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
