With deepest and profound sympathy, we announce the transition of Mr. Charles A. Rivers who entered into rest January 26, 2025.

Mr. Rivers, a native of Dorchester County, was a 1963 graduate of Alston High School, Summerville, SC, a 1968 graduate of Claflin University, Orangeburg, SC where he received a Bachelor's Degree and a 1995 graduate of USC-Columbia where he received a Master's Degree. He taught  and coached basketball at Langley-Bath-Clearwater Middle School, taught at Stall High School in North Charleston and taught and coached boys varsity basketball at Burke High School in Charleston, SC. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Carpentersville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Martin Rivers; a daughter, Latonja D. Rivers (Toni); brother-in-law, John D. Turner, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Turner, Yvonne T. Allen (Willie), Cheryl Turner and Marie Rivers; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Carpentersville Baptist Church with the Rev. John Dingle officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. The family will receive guests from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
