G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Mr. Dave "David, Boy, Slack" Johnson who entered into rest November 26, 2025 on his 74th birthday at Piedmont Heart & Vascular Hospital.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Aiken County where he attended the Aiken County Public Schools. He was a  retired Truck Driver for Starrett Trucking of Augusta, Georgia and a member of Spring Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sister, Mary E. Moore and a chosen sister, Christine Lyons; stepsons, Lafayette (Patrice) Baskett and Donel (Wanda) Madison; stepdaughter, Marilyn M. Brooks, twelve chosen children; one aunt, Eva Mae Martin; mother-in-law, Reva McKie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Spring Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Delbert Nero officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
