With deepest and heartfelt sympathy, G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of David Smith, III of Beech Island, SC who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Mr. Smith, a native of Aiken County, was a graduate of Midland Valley High School.
His father, David Smith, Jr. preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Catherine Green of Beech Island, SC; a beloved friend, Ms. Glories J. Perry of Jackson, SC; three sons, Jamie West of Augusta, GA, David Derrell (Alexis) Smith of North Augusta, SC and Davon Tilghman of the home; daughter, Glories LaRayne Smith of Jackson, SC; a brother, Arthur Green of Texas; a bonus brother, Tyrus Laney of Beech Island, SC; a bonus sister, Valerie Laney of Graniteville, SC; two devoted cousins like brothers, Reginald Tubman of Montmorenci, SC and Earl Ishmal, III of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; a devoted cousin like a sister, LaShon Ishmal Johnson; two uncles Frank S. (Elaine) Smith and Nathaniel (Donna) Smith of Aiken, SC; four aunts, Lugenia S. Ingram, Dr. Rosa S. Ishmal, Betty S. Key, Elease Green all of Beech Island, SC; five grandchildren, David Derrell, Jr., Jerrell Kyng Merriweather, Ashtin Terrell Smith, Ace Cason Smith, and Alayah Shanell Merriweather, a host of other loving cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Seymore Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
