It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Deacon John E. Collins, Sr. who entered into rest January 18, 2022.

Mr. Collins, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (James) Bibbs of Trenton, SC, Sheila Cummings of Augusta, GA, and Lisa (Rev., Dr. James E.) Dukes of North Augusta, SC; one son, Deacon John (Min. Leslie) Collins, Jr. of Edgefield, SC; one sister, Min. Aimee Mathis of Edgefield, SC; one brother, Dea. William (Christine) Collins of Denmark, SC; six grandchildren; four bonus grandchildren, their spouses and children; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Oscar W. Brown officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Facebook Page. Viewing will be held from 1 – 5 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
