It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Ms. Dorothy Merriweather Brightharp who entered into rest September 1, 2022.

Ms. Brightharp, a native of Edgefield County, was a 1966 graduate of W. E. Parker High School. She furthered her education at the University of South Carolina-Aiken and obtained a Bachelors Degree. She retired from Bell South/AT&T. She was a member of Second Providence Baptist Church and a past member and officer of Mu Lamda and Kappa Upsilon Omega chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy L. (Lorraine) Brightharp and Lenward S. Brightharp; a granddaughter, Toria (Kevin) Hughes; a great-granddaughter, Kamryn J. Hughes; two sisters, Rosa L. (Wayman) Johnson and Juliana M. Hall; a sister-in-law, Earline Merriweather; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Second Providence Baptist Church of which Dr. Albert M. James is the pastor and the Rev. Henry R. Merriweather, eulogist. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM.
