IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy "Dot"
(Langford) Mauldin
September 6, 1943 – July 25, 2024
It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Louise Langford Mauldin who entered into rest Thursday, July 25, 2024. She is rejoicing on this day in Heaven.
Dorothy was born in Edgefield, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Jesse Langford and the late AnnisMathis Langford. She had made her home in Canton and was blessed with a multitude of friends and neighbors who will miss her deeply. She lived her life guided by faith and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Canton. Dot's belief in God sustained her through her life's joys and trials and she was a lady whose life was an example for others to follow.
She had been employed as the director of South Western Child Development. Dot dedicated herself to nurturing the hearts and minds of young children and she believed that every child deserved love, education, and a chance to be the best that they could be.
Dot loved to shop – whether it was for practical necessities or just fun shopping trips for treasures. Her quiet times at home were often filled with watching her favorite game shows and classic "Old Westerns" on television. And oh, her beautiful flowers- her garden was always blooming with something lovely because Dot nurtured her plants with great care and patience.
Above all, Dot loved and cherished her family. They were each her pride and joy. Her precious memory will always be a part of their lives. In remembering Dorothy we think of these words, " A mother's love is a miracle that brings light to our darkest days, hope to our deepest fears, and joy to our every moment." Dot will forever be in our hearts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert "Bobby" Mauldin who passed away in March of 2024; and her siblings, James, Robert, Frank, Nancy, Mary, KC, and Jessie.
Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, William and Leslie Mauldin of Canton; her daughter, Deitra Smith of Houston, Texas; her beloved grandchildren, Brittani Mauldin, Robert Andrew "Drew" Mauldin, Mikayla Smith, and Kiana Harris, a brother, Rev. Nathaniel (Ellen) Langford, and a sister, Yvonne Duprey; a sister-in-law, Hazel Langford; and a host of friends.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Mauldin will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday,August 7, 2024, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Reverend Robert Williams will be officiating. Burial will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain withher husband.
Following the service, the family will gather for the repastat 3:30PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
