It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Earnest E. Simmons, Sr. who entered into rest February 22, 2022 at University Hospital.

Mr. Simmons, a native of Edgefield County, was a 1973 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School and a retiree of AGY (Fiberglass.)

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Simmons of the home; a son, Earnest (Dearra) Simmons, Jr. of Aiken; three sisters, O'Lillie (James) Russell, Patricia Daniels both of Augusta, GA, and Dorothy (Eugene) Williams of Edgefield, SC; two grandchildren, Miracle Simmons and Earnest Simmons, III; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. John Dingle officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Facebook Page. Viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Due to the pandemic, the family will not receive guests at this time. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
