G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Mr. Edgar K. Brown, Jr. who entered into rest January 7, 2026.
Edgar Kevin Brown, Jr. was born on September 22, 1979, in Beech Island, South Carolina. From the very beginning, he embodied a spirit of joy, resilience, and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him. At an early age, Edgar accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Indian Grove Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and completed his basic training at Fort Jackson, carrying the discipline, dedication, and commitment to service he learned in the military throughout his life. Edgar was a graduate of Silver Bluff High School in Aiken, South Carolina, and furthered his education as a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts School, reflecting his passion, creativity, and dedication to excellence.
Throughout his life, Edgar was known for meaningful relationships, strong values, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. He found joy in life's simple moments and made lasting impressions on everyone he encountered through his warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine love for others. Above all, Edgar cherished family, friendship, and purpose. Mr. Edgar Kevin Brown, Jr. entered into eternal rest on January 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and treasured memories.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez B. Brown; his grandparents, Hardy Brown, Sr., Willie Mae Jackson Brown, Raiford Dunbar, Sr., and Levette H. Dunbar.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Demeterius Brown; one daughter, Nyarie Warren; two sons, Jaelan (Nya) Brown and Edgar K. Brown III; his father, Edgar Brown, Sr.; one sister, Deann (Kalanda) Kambeya; his father-in-law, Rev. Thaddeus Meyers, Sr. (Carmen Meyers); his mother-in-law, Lizzie Faye Tucker of Augusta, Georgia; aunts Rosa Dunbar of Aiken, South Carolina, Georgia Dunbar of Martinez, Georgia, Mary D. Brooks of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gertrude Burton (Charles) of Grovetown, Georgia; his uncles, Hardy Brown, Jr., John Willie Brown, Jimmy Lee Brown, and Deacon Rodney Brown all of Aiken South Carolina.
Sister -in-law Erica Truitt of Augusta, Georgia and Azia Phelps of Washington, DC; brothers-in-law Robert Truitt and Thaddeus Meyers, Jr., both of Augusta, Georgia, and Kalanda Kambeya ;Katy,Texas and Dominic Phelps of Washington, DC; along with loving nieces and a host of other relatives, church family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Indian Grove Baptist Church with the Rev., Dr. Anthony Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
