G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Mrs. Elsie Williams Bowers who entered into rest October 27, 2025.

Mrs. Bowers, a native of Edgefield County, was a 1968 graduate of W. E. Parker High School. She retired as a Social Worker from CSRA Economic Opportunity Authority, Inc. of Augusta. She was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin J. Bowers; two sons, Marcus T. (DaShona) Bowers and Darryl L. Bowers; two daughters, Rhonda L. Bowers and Meliah Bowers Jefferson; five grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, October 31, 2025 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church where the Rev. David Mason pastor and Rev. Dr. Sallie Cooks eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
