Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Erik Maurice Dunn, who departed this life on March 27, 2025 at the age of 61 in North Augusta, South Carolina. Erik was born on November 14, 1963, in Augusta, Georgia, and his warm spirit and steadfast character will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Erik was the beloved son of Reverend Nathaniel Dunn and Mary Dunn and the devoted brother to his sister, Natalie Dunn. He graduated from Richmond Academy in 1981 with a high school diploma and went on to pursue higher education at University of Georgia where he explored studies in Information Technology and Business Administration. He later earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) in Management Information Systems and Services from Strayer University (1990-1992) and was dually enrolled at East Georgia State and Augusta University, a testament to his lifelong commitment to learning and love and passion for reading.

A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Erik served his country with honor from 1984 to 1989, including working at the Pentagon and a tour in Germany where he exemplified dedication, resilience, and patriotism.

Erik went on to build a successful career in technology, holding positions such as Network Integration Manager at Blazen Technology, Inc. (2004-2006), Telecommunications System Supervisor at NOVA Information Systems (2007-2008), Senior System Engineer and Senior System Support at EGS Inc., Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (20082011), System Support Manager at Dunn's Income Tax (20112014), and Service Desk and Team Manager at Unisys (20142016). From (December 2021 to May 2022), he worked seasonally for TaxSlayer as Professional Support, Tier 2 and he provided Office System Support at Dunn's Income Service (2016 to Present), a family-run business where his technical knowledge and leadership were instrumental.

He was also a certified ITIL V3 Foundations and CISSP holder and a passionate Multimedia Specialist, lending his time and talent to Tabernacle Baptist Church from September 2011 until his passing. At the church, he served faithfully as part of the Multimedia Video Production Team, using his gifts to enhance worship services and community outreach.

Erik is survived by his loving children: Brandon Dunn, Andre Godette, and Erika Patrice Dunn. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Azari Josiah Godette, Bre'aiea Amani Dunn, and Christian DeAngelo Dunn, who will carry on his legacy with pride and love.

A funeral service celebrating Erik's life will take place on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. A family repast will follow the service. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

A man of quiet strength and deep faith, Erik's presence was a source of stability and kindness to all who knew him. His family, friends, church, and community mourn his loss and celebrate the life he lived with honor, humility, and love.
