With deepest and profound sympathy, we announce the transition of Mr. Freddie McKie who enteren into rest. Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in Rock Hill, SC.
The family will receive friends starting at 10:00-10:45 am on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Burial will be private.
Born in Salley, SC, Mr. McKie was the son of the late Willie McKie and the late Mozelle Marie Woodard McKie. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Synita Gardner, Horace McKie and Alvin Mckie; brothers-in-law, Harvey, Eugene, Marvin, Bennie Rivers, Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Irene Furman, Julia B Green, Mary Shannon, Inez Singleton and Walterene Conyers.
Mr. McKie graduated in 1961 from Al Corbett High School. He attended South Carolina State University, where he was involved in the ROTC program. He married the love of his life, Sollene Rivers "Pie" McKie in 1963 and they shared 58 years together. During the summers of his college years, he worked for the SC State Highway Department. Mr. Mckie's early religious education began at Jerusalem Branch Baptist Church, Salley, SC. He was a member of First Baptist Church West in Charlotte, NC where he served as a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School and a Sunday School teacher. Previously, he served as a Deacon at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Rock Hill and St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. Mr. McKie worked as an insurance agent for Independent Life Insurance Company and later retired after more than 20 years from Sears Roebuck and Co. where he was Sales Manager in the automotive division in both Charlotte and Rock Hill. He was a founding member of the Rock Hill Optimist Club.
Mr. McKie is survived by his son, Raynolda T. McKie (Nadiuska) of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Andrea T. McKie-Bradley (Jeremiah) of Rock Hill, son, Kevin T. McKie (Janet) of Atlanta; siblings, Jacob McKie (Lois), Reverend Gerald McKie (Geneva), Bobby McKie (Marilyn), Bonita McKie and Audrey McKie; grandchildren, Tyrone Billingsly (Cassandra), McKenzy McKie, Ava Ellyce McKie, Jalon Draper, and Melanie McKie Polanco; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ethernel Harston (Jacob) and Cynthia Parker (Ronnie), and a host of nieces and nephews.
