It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Reverend George Counts who entered into rest December 22, 2023.

Rev. Counts, a native of Aiken County, was a member of Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He served as pastor of Piney Grove Baptist Church (Perry, SC), Mt. Transfiguration Baptist Church (North Augusta, SC), New Grove Baptist Church (Laurens, SC), Simmon Ridge Missionary Baptist Church (Edgefield, SC), and retired while serving as pastor of Mims Grove Baptist Church (North Augusta, SC.)

Survivors include his wife, Cora Simmons Counts of the home; two sons, George E. "Ricky" (Deborah) Counts, Esq. of Charleston, SC and Aaron A. Counts of Aiken, SC; three sisters, Sadie Morgan, Salley Wright both of Aiken, SC and Alice Carter of Augusta, GA; one brother, SSGT Wilbert (Cassandra) Counts of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Second Baptist Church with the Rev., Dr. Albert M. James officiating. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
