May 24, 1951 – June 22, 2025
It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. George "Butch" McKie, Jr., who entered into rest June 22, 2025.
Mr. McKie, a native of Edgefield County, attended the Edgefield County School System. He worked in Shipping at DSM Chemical and Austin Industries, Inc. He was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Young McKie; four children, Tongie (Quintin) Johnson, LaRhonda (Milton Whitt, Jr.) McKie, Tawanna (Elton) Tillman and Marciano McKie, Sr.; twelve grandchildren, Tinez (Tammy) Whitt, QuaTonya T. Rolling, Terrance Rolling, Jr., Shakeal Whitt, Traquan Abney, Ktron T. McKie, Zenaida McKie, Marciano McKie, Jr., Dajarney Whitt, Trevel Tillman, Trevon Tillman and Shaniya Tillman; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Ada White and Geneva (Robert Lee) Martin; two brothers, Dr. Ronald McKie and Donald (Yvonne) McKie; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Young and Gwenda (Donald) Owens; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Dr. Leonard O. Griffin pastor and Evangelist Brenda Whitt Abney eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
