Mr. James Hugh "Omar" Knight, Jr., age 67, of Aiken, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Omar was born on May 21, 1955, to Mother Nina Ruth Staton, decd., and Father James Hugh Knight, decd. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Omar spent many years of his life living in Brooklyn, NY, where he worked and retired from NYC Sanitation after 20-years of service. Although, born in Edgecombe, County, North Carolina, Omar was considered a true New York native and hero, as he aided in the NYC cleanup effort, after the tragic terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2002.

Omar was known for his great sense of humor, comical jokes, and his warm affection, that will be dearly missed.

Omar is survived by his wife, Diane B. Knight, and his four children, Omari Knight, Omar Knight, Waki Knight, Khadijah Knight and two step-children, Maurice Wallace, and Nikita Wallace, along with many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Omar is also survived by his four sisters, Alice F. Revell, Brenda Stewart, Peggy Hussey, Selena Anderson, his three brothers, Paul Hussey, Dennis Knight, Steve Knight, one sister in-law, one brother in-law, two daughter in-laws, a plethora of nieces, and nephews, and preceded by his brother, Stanley Knight, decd. May the Lord be with him for all eternity and may he rest in peace.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2022 at G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Chapel. The service will be live-streamed via the G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Facebook Page.
