Laura Lugenia Cooks

With deepest and profound sympathy, G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Mrs. Laura L. Bright Cooks who entered into rest August 3, 2026.

Mrs. Cooks, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Second Providence Baptist Church where she served in many capacities to include Deaconess Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Usher Ministry and Missions.

Survivors include her sister, Eleanor Bright Williams; a devoted niece and caregiver, Tiffany Birt; grandchildren, Vivica, Varen and Kiersten; sisters-in-law, Gloria Cooks, Christine Cooks Lyons, Sadie Cooks Harris and Dirine Cooks; brother-in-law, Thomas Cooks; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Second Providence Baptist Church with the Rev., Dr. Albert M. James officiating. Interment will follow in Second Providence Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
