Obituary

With deepest and profound sympathy, we announce the transition of Dr. Linda M. Pope who entered into rest March 9, 2025.

Dr. Pope, a native of Aiken County, was a member of Second Baptist Church. She served as First Lady of First Providence Baptist Church for 38 years.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Rev., Dr. Alexander Pope, Jr.; a daughter, Pamela Felice (Minister Shelley III) Crayon; grandchildren, Layla Felice Crayon and Shelley Leon Crayon IV; a brother, Thomas (Betty) Mackie, Jr.; two sisters, Cynthia Diane (Rev. Sebastian) Green and Mary Ann Maybank; aunts, Virginia Goodwin and Mary Mackie; brother-in-law, Deacon Wyman (Dorothy) Pope, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Cohen, Louise Holloway Pope and Gladys Williams; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2025 at First Providence Baptist Church where the Rev. Hayward Dock, Jr. is the pastor and the Rev., Dr. Alexander Pope, Jr. eulogist. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at First Providence Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Providence Baptist Church Memorial Garden.

Professional Care has been entrusted to G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary-North Augusta.
