November 22, 1922 – November 28, 2024
With deepest and profound sympathy, we announce the transition of Mrs. Margie Mae Gibson, 102, who departed her earthly home in the early morning hours on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
She was a lifelong resident of Edgefield County and was the seventh of eight children born to the late John Henry Johnson and the late Hattie Benson Johnson.
She was a lifelong member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board until her health declined. During her working years she was a Dietitian for the Edgefield County Hospital.
She is survived by seven children, Curtis Gibson, Ruby Jean Allen, Helen Dicks, Pearl (Eddie) Scott, Nathan (Vanessa) Gibson, Doris Raiford and Darren Gibson; Twenty-Four Grandchildren;Thirty-Eight Great Grandchildren; Twenty Great-Great Grandchildren; a host of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Shaws Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The service will be live-streamed via the G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Facebook Page. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
