It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Ms. Martha E. Simpkins, affectionately known as "Sugar", who entered into rest July 8, 2023.

Ms. Simpkins was a graduate of Eli Whitney High School. She retired from the New York City Housing Authority and Lower Savannah Correctional Center. She was a member of Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Rachele Lauren (Mac-Arthur) Pierre-Louis; a son, Jaimey E. Williams; stepdaughter, Teresa Hammond; six sisters, Georgia Simpkins, Henrietta Ronchi, Katherine Simpkins, Josephine Carter, Shelia (John) Mabry and Stephanie Simpkins; three brothers, Irving (Yvonne) Simpkins, Michael Simpkins and Jerome (Georgia) Simpkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday, July 17, 2023 at Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Leonard O. Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
