Obituary

Ms. Martha Jean Walker, daughter of the late Efford Talbert and Helen Price Talbert, was born March 3,1947 in Edgefield, South Carolina. Martha passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 10th , 2025, at her residence.

Martha received her education at W.E. Parker High School in Edgefield and was a 1966 graduate. She worked in the textile industry for over 20 years. Later in life she found her true calling in Home Health Care. She attended Piedmont Technical College and received a certification as a Nursing Assistant. In this role, she touched countless lives with her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to caring for others.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She faithfully served as a member of the W.H. McCain Ensemble, the Mt. Moriah Mass Choir, sharing her love of music and devotion to God with the congregation. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her
life, and her contributions to the church community will be remembered with deep gratitude and love.

She is now at peace, welcomed into eternal rest by her parents; her six brothers, Joe Arthur, James, William, Clarence, Curtis, and Troy Talbert; and her two sisters, Johnnie Mae Bowman and Georgia Lindsey.

Martha leaves behind her son, Ron Talbert, and his wife, a dedicated daughter-in-law, Kimberly Talbert; her two grandchildren, Morgan Dudley and Olivia Jordan; five sisters, Alpha Carr, Beatrice Plater, Annie M. Christie, Omelia Anderson, and Mildred (Nathan) Goodwin, sisters-in-law, Joan Talbert and Janie R. Talbert, and all aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is also remembered by her longtime friend Stewart Bibbs whose companionship brought her love, comfort and joy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Gordon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
