Obituary

It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Ms. Mary L. Bentley-Brown who entered into rest May 25, 2024.


Ms. Bentley-Brown was a native of Edgefield County. She received her education in the Aiken County School System and Augusta Technical College where she earned as Associate Degree in Business Management. She was employed by Creedmoor State Hospital and SRP Federal Credit Union. She was a member of Church of God Holiness Tabernacle.


Survivors include three sons, Otis (Stephanie) Johnson, Jr., Orlando, FL; Jeffrey T. (Kat) Bentley, Hephzibah, Ga. and Courtney D. Bentley, Augusta, Ga.; a sister, Jeanette H. "Arlene" Johnson, Augusta, GA.; two brothers, Joseph "Don" Key and Walter E. Key both of Augusta, Ga.; a devoted niece, Mia Johnson, Hephzibah, Ga.; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Mealing Grove Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Joseph Harris pastor and Rev. Lucile Dyson eulogist. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 2 pm until 5:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
