Obituary

It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Monroe Sims, Jr. who entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 31, 2020 at University Hospital.


Mr. Sims, a native of Richmond County was a 1969 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. He was a member of Silver Bluff Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang on the J. S. Gordon Choir. He was a United States Army Veteran.



Survivors include his wife, Edith Greenwood Sims; three sons, Marquette Sims, Sr., Antwan Sims, Sr., and Donquell (Melissa) Sims; two sisters, Delores (Willie)
Richardson and Barbara (Toney) Harley; three godchildren, seven grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Silver Bluff Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Morgan officiating. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Park. Mask and Social Distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held from 2:00 until 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
