Calvin Jessie
March 31, 1951 – April 14, 2025
With deepest and profound sympathy, we announce the transition of MSGT (Ret.) Calvin Jessie who entered into rest April 14, 2025.
Calvin "Touche" Jessie was born on March 31, 1951 to the late Fred L. Walker and the late LeAnna Jessie.
At an early age, he was baptized and joined Old Storm Branch Baptist Church in Clearwater, South Carolina.
Mr. Jessie received his early education in the primary and elementary schools of the area. In 1970, he graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School in Augusta, Georgia. Then, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for 25 years and retired with he ranking of Master Sergeant.
Mr. Jessie received many honors and accolades during his 25 year tenure with the U. S. Air Force to include Air Force Achievement Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Readiness Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal, in addition to, tours, training and educational opportunities.
He departed this life on April 14, 2025 at NHC (National Health Care) in North Augusta, SC.
Mr. Jessie was preceded in death by five siblings, Lenwood Jessie, James Jessie, Fred Walker, Jr. (Pank), Della Jessie and Valerie Sapp.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving sister, Dorothy (Hampton) Smith; five sisters, Elizabeth (Rev. Joshua) Bryant, Deloris Cook, Roxie (Henry) Mims, Louise Blaylock and Janette W. Jamison; four brothers, Willie L. (Julia) Walker, Frederick Walker, Rev., Dr. Gollie (Jennifer) Walker and Willie E. Walker; a devoted niece, G. Simone Smith, who served as a confidante and caregiver; Godbrothers and Godsisters, Rev. Ralph Holloway, Clarence (Ida) Holloway, Dennis (Sue) Holloway, Bernard (Wanda) Holloway, Dontel (Annette) Holloway, Carolyn (David) Jackson, Gail Dorsey, Marlin Washington and Vanessa Williams; one aunt, Mary Ardis; one sister-in-law, Kawanna Jessie; many nieces, nephews and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Old Storm Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Martris Mims officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Professional Services are under the care of G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary-North Augusta.
