It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mrs. O'Lillie Simmons Russell who entered into rest August 22, 2023.

Mrs. Russell, a native of Edgefield County, was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a 1971 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School and Augusta Technical College majoring in Accounting. She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education as an Assistant Media Specialist in 2015.

Survivors include her husband, James Russell, Jr.; her children, James (Shonda) Russell, III, Zaccheus (Nicole) Russell and Angela Wesbey; grandchildren, Kendrick Russell, James Russell, IV, Saivion Mason, Devon Lancaster, Markarris Profit, and Faith Wesbey; sisters, Patricia Simmons Daniels and Dorothy (Eugene) Williams; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Simmons, Clarice Simmons, Margie Russell and Vivian (Rick) Graham; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday, August 28, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Oscar W. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 1-4 pm Sunday at the funeral home .
