With deepest and profound sympathy, G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Mr. Peter G. "PJ" Hammond III who entered into rest June 16, 2026.

Born in Richmond County, “PJ” attended the Richmond County Schools in Augusta, GA and later in life worked in many capacities in the work force. PJ was a diligent worker and had many leadership skills. He was always willing to learn something new.

Survivors include his mother, Hattie Mae Tarver Hammond; his son, Dominique Antonio Starks, Sr.; his sister, Prophet/Senior Pastor Jeanette Hammond Simmons (Pastor William Jerome Simmons, Sr.); brothers, Montrell Hammond and Marcus(Ramona) Tutt; one grandson, Dominique Antonio Starks, Jr.; a host of aunts and uncles; up to third generations of nieces and nephews; cousins; Mr. Jessie Jones adopted father for many years; and many other family, friends and co-workers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the Columbia County Library with Prophet/Senior Pastor Jeanette Hammond Simmons and Pastor William Jerome Simmons, Sr. officiating.
