With heartfelt sympathy, G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Reverend Raymonda R. Speller who entered into rest January 17, 2026.
Rev. Speller, a native of Suffolk, Virginia, served as the Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Aiken, South Carolina.
Pastor Speller matriculated at Howard University as a Legacy Scholar and a BET Communications Scholar where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Communication and Culture in 2009 while successfully leading two campus ministries. Upon graduation he attended Duke Divinity School as a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar and a Pearl and Robert Seymour Scholar, earning his Master of Divinity degree along with a graduate certificate in Baptist Studies in 2012 while serving as a student coordinator of the Baptist House of Studies program. While in divinity school, he had the privilege of serving in supervised ministry under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Prince R. Rivers at the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC.
Ordained in 2013 by the historic St. Paul Community Baptist Church of Brooklyn, NY, famed for its community development and political engagement, Pastor Speller's ministry has focused on leading progressively and with a heart for community transformation and engagement of political, economic, and spiritual needs.
Survivors include his wife, Krystle Speller; a daughter, Christiana Speller; three sons, Christopher Speller, Clayton Speller and Canaan Speller; his mother, Michelle (Charles) Glover; his father, Bennie (Karen) Beamon; four sisters, Tyechia Hedgepath, La'Queea Pierce, Jazmine Beamon and Breyonna Beamon; a brother, Keith Speller; a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Slaughter officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Viewing will take place from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Second Baptist Church.
Professional Services are under the care of G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary-Aiken.
