It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Rev. Dr. David J. Easterling, Sr., who entered into rest January 31, 2024.

Rev. Easterling was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and a member of Ross Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was Son of the House. He was Pastor Emeritus of Bean Pond Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran. He retired from the Richmond County Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife, Margie E. Sims Easterling; three daughters, Ivy Glover, Chandra (Jermaine) Corley and Briana (Sherman) Jefferson; two sons, David J. Easterling, Jr., and David A. Sims; three sisters, Margaret (Lew) Rhone, Catherine (Henry) Lattimer and Rev. Bertha Easterling Mota; thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Bean Pond Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Runs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2 pm to 5:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
