It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Rufus Stewart, 87, who entered into rest March 19, 2022 at the VA Medical Center.

Mr. Stewart attended Schofield High School and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of Old Storm Branch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie Lamback Stewart; sons, the late Lafayette Stewart, Sr. (Ruby) and Eddie Johnson (Antonia); children he raised, Johnnie (Vonnie) Stephens and Jackie (David) Misher; grandchildren, Fahnie Stewart Shaw (Atiba, Sr.), LaTrice Stewart Carter (Antonio, Sr.) Lafayette Stewart, Jr. (Anya), Simone Hill and Isaac Hill; six great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Old Storm Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Martris Mims officiating. Mask and social distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held from 4-6 pm Friday at the funeral home.
