It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Shep Martin, Jr. who entered into rest April 29, 2024.

Mr. Martin was a native of Edgefield County. He attended the public schools of Edgefield County and further his education at Piedmont Technical College. He was a member of Republican Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Glanton Martin; four sons, George (Clara) Martin, Eric (Tracy) Martin, Gregory (Teresa) Martin and James Hardy; one daughter, Lisa Saxton; daughter-in-law, Sarah Martin; two brothers, Eugene (Barbara) Martin and Willie (Jozell) Martin; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2024 at Republican Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Patten, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
