It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Willie "Bill" Adams who entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
Mr. Willie "Bill" Adams, son of the late John James Adams and Mary Key Adams was born June 19, 1942 in Johnston, SC.
At an early age, Bill received Christ at Mount Canaan Baptist Church and has been a longtime member. He was a graduate of Edgefield County School for Colored, ECCS Class of 1960.
Bill enlisted in the United States Army on May 15, 1963. He served three years in the Army. Then, he enlisted in the Army Reserves and served 25 years. He was awarded a flag that flew over the Capital Building in Washington, D.C. He was Master Sergeant at the time of his retirement from the Army Reserves.
He also worked for SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.) He started as a Bus Driver, Trolley Driver, Dispatcher, and became a Supervisor. He worked there for 30 years.
On October 18, 1968, Bill and Frances I. Green Adams married. They were married 52 years.
He was preceded in death by siblings, James Edward Adams, Louis Adams, Mary F. Roberts, and Vernon Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Adams, Aiken; one daughter, Remelle Adams, Pittsburgh, PA; two sons, Johnathan Adams, Silver Springs, MD and Willie Watley, Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Anniebell Peterson, Brenda Adams, both of Aiken, and Vivian Adams, Augusta, GA; four brothers, Robert (Bernice) Adams, North Augusta, Kenny Adams, Trenton, Eugene (Naomi) Adams, Laverock, PA, and Wayne Adams, Brooklyn, NY; a Godson, Jeremy Whitaker and a host of other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Mt. Canaan Cemetery. Mask and Social Distancing will be observed. The service will be live-streamed via the G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Facebook Page. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
