With deepest and profound sympathy, we announce the transition of Mr. Willie L. Baker who entered into rest January 19, 2025.

Mr. Baker, a native of Sparta, Georgia, was a 1973 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. He retired from GIW Industries in Grovetown, Georgia.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of thirty-four years, Gwendolyn Stringer Baker; sons, Willie Lee Baker, Jr. (Ressa Moore), Marquel (Erika) Baker, Trent (Kenge) Baker, and Marcus Stringer; daughters, Latasha Simpkins, Tywanda (Adrain) Cunningham and Kayla (Dontay) McClain; a brother, Roland Baker; sisters, Ruthie Terrell and Doris Chinn; brothers-in-law, William Stringer, Douglas Stringer, Danny Stringer, Ronnie (Denise) Stringer, Michael (Edwina) Stringer and Larry Stringer; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, January 25, 2025 at G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Charlie Johnson, Sr. officiating. Viewing will be held from 2 pm until 5:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
