It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Willie James Baker who entered into rest November 6, 2023.

Mr. Baker a native of Hayneville, AL was a graduate of Hayneville Public School System. He retired from the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Survivors include two daughters, Felicia (Galvin) Thompson and Natashia (Troy) Canty; a chosen son, Jimmy (Vernell) Robinson; a sister, Leathia Baker Jenkins; sister-in-law, Carrie "Mildred" Simmons; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, Hayneville, Alabama with the Rev. Fletcher Fountain officiating. Interment will be in Hayneville Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday at Bell Funeral Home (2228 Tuskeena Street, Hayneville, AL.)
