Willie Mitchell, Jr.

With deepest and profound sympathy, G. L. Brightharp & Sons announces the transition of Mr. Willie Mitchell, Jr. who entered into rest July 6, 2026.

Mr. Mitchell was a native of Panama City, Florida. He was a Retired Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He retired from Edgefield County Water and Sewer Authority. He was also a Charter Member and the first Chief of the County Line Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Biggs; sisters, Paula Cox and Barbara Mitchell; brother, Willie Junior Mitchell; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with the Rev. David Mason, Jr. officiating. Interment, with Full Military Honors, will follow in the Mt. Canaan Burial Society Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
