It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Bernard Hawkins who entered into rest December 26, 2021 at Grady Healthcare System.
Mr. Hawkins was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson High School and a graduate of Paine College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He worked in many capacities, including E. I. DuPont and Global Logistics. He was a member of Mt. Transfiguration Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Bernard "Rico" (Courtney) Hawkins; two brothers, Willie Lee Hawkins, Jr. and Clinton Hawkins; four sisters, Rachel (Hazel) Hammond, Jeanette Hayes, Christine Barnwell, and Rubena (Rev., Dr. Jesse) Williams; three grandchildren, Re'Kiyah Yasmeein Hawkins, Dhilon Thomas Hawkins, and Aiden Bernard Hawkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 3, 2022 at Mt. Transfiguration Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Hill officiating. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
