It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Bishop Lawrence Smith, Jr. who entered into rest Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
Bishop Smith, a native of Wilkes County was the pastor of Free Indeed Holiness Church, North Augusta. He worked as a warehouse worker and truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Mathis Smith; eight sons, Ricky (Evelyn) Smith, Lawrence Smith, III, Glendell (Pamela) Smith, Wendell Smith, Darrel Demetria) Smith, Daniel (Latonya) Smith, Anthony (Nicole) Hill and De'Larnce Mathis; six daughters, Dalphana Tisdale, Patrica Arnold, Priscilla (Daniel) Bruton, Zaneta Smith, Vania (John) Germany and Shanrita Mathis; two god children, Felica Mathis and Marcus Mathis; one brother, Eugene (Connie) Smith; two sisters, Mary Dunn and Susie Ford; one aunt, Maudell Leverett; mother-in-law, Evelyn Mathis;48 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, December 28, 2020 at Free Indeed Holiness Church Cemetery. Mask and Social Distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
