It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Ret. GySgt. Willis B. Cook who entered into rest Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Memorial Health, Savannah, GA.
Ret. GySgt. Cook was a native of Richmond County and a 1969 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School.. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer and sang on the Male Chorus. He retired from the United States Marine Corps and Westinghouse Savannah River Site.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann McCain Cook; a daughter, Tammy (Johnny) Mealing; three grandchildren, Kayla Cook, Jazwaniqua Harris and Kaden Mealing; four brothers, George (Laverna) Cook, William (Elizabeth) Cook, Kevin Cook and Timothy (Stephanie) Cook; six sisters, Joanne C. (Ronald) Johnson, Patricia C. (Robert) Bell, Carolyn (Alphonza) Washington, Marilyn (Victor) Sullivan, Regina (Floyd) Freeman and Audrey (Gassim) Ahmed; step mother-in-law, Mary R. McCain; brother-in-law, Freddie McCain, sisters-in-law, Mary B. Garrett and Vurnell (Johnny) Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Edgefield with the Rev. Leonard Franklin officiating. Mask and social distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
