It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Douglas C. Mack who entered into rest August 18, 2021 at Doctors Hospital.
Mr. Mack, son of Ruth and the late Charles Mack, was a native of New York born August 27, 1951. He attended Job Corps where he received his GED.
Douglas was an "All Around" guy. He worked in various Ski Resorts in the New York Area as a Dishwasher until he found himself here in the "Peach State" of South Carolina. He initially found employment with the late Frank Berry Peach Farms as a Field Walker. He was also a Laborer for Edgefield Construction Company, a Driver in the Transportation Department of Edgefield Senior Citizens Council, Maintenance Staff of McDonald's, and a Floor Tech with Saluda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Saluda.
On Wednesday, August 18, 2021 God called Douglas Charles Mack to rest from labor to reward.
He was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served in many capacities (Trustee Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, Director of Vacation Bible School, President of Bible Study Classes, Food Bank Ministry, Van Driver, Lawn Maintenance, Usher Ministry, and Kitchen Detail.) He was also a member of the Brotherhood Society of Mount Canaan Baptist Association, Inc.
Douglas leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife/companion of 30 years, Ruth H. Mack, formerly of Belle Glade, FL and currently of the home; one son, Jermaine L. Webbs (Theresa) of Jupiter, FL; his mother, Ruth Mack; a grandson, A'Jahni Rasun of Jupiter, FL; two favorite aunts, Mary (M.C.) Johnson of Riviera, FL and Frances (Herman) Bruce of Elizabeth City, NC; one uncle, Leroy "Bronco Billy" Blanding of Edgefield, SC; two "Kissin" cousins, Ms. "Arab" of Lyons, GA and Ms. A'Rieyon Shelton of Boca Raton, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends that he loved very very much.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 Friday, August 27, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Oscar W. Brown officiating. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
