It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mrs. Effie Cooks Taylor who entered into rest September 29, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Taylor was married to the late Reverend John Henry Taylor. Two children preceded her in death: Betty A. Cooks Shubrisk and John Henry Taylor, Jr.
She leaves to cherish fond memories three devoted sons, Calvin (Sallie) Cooks, James (Georgia) Cooks and Tommie L. (Diane) Taylor; daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn W. Taylor; son-in-law, James Shubrisk; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charlie F. Taylor; goddaughter, Phoebe B. Dunbar; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church of which the Rev. G. L. Brightharp pastor and the Rev. Doyse Kenneth Allen eulogist. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Face covering and social distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 2:00-5:30 pm at the funeral home.
The family will receive guests at the home on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm.
