Ellanoise Davis Johnson entered into rest October 11, 2023 from complications due to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS.)
She was born in Aiken, South Carolina to the late William and Ellanoise Davis on September 2, 1945. She was affectionately known to all as "Billie." She was a member of the 1963 class of Jefferson High School in Bath, South Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina and her M. ED from California State in Long Beach, California.
Billie had a career as an educator and retired in 2010 from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and CARAS Social Club.
Billie was always connected with a church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher in Cleveland. After moving to Atlanta, she joined Wesley Chapel UMC where she was an active member until her death.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellanoise Davis and a brother, Melvin Davis.
She is survived by a brother, Melchus Davis (Helen); a sister, V. LaTrelle Winston (Thomas); a sister-in-law, Dawn Haines; a daughter, Portia L. Davis (Michael); granddaughters, Brittani Davis-Pelham and Aubrie Davis; a grandson, Devry Davis; a great-grandson, Amir Dowdie; four nephews, six nieces; a host of relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Old Storm Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Martris Mims officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
