It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. James M. Makin, 33, who entered into rest September 16, 2021 at AU Medical Center.
Mr. Makin was born in Augusta, GA to Kenneth Makin and Shirley Ligon McDavid.
He was a 2005 graduate of Midland Valley High School and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from USC-Aiken. James' infectous laugh and kind demeanor had a positive effect on everyone he encountered, whether personally or professionally.
Survivors include his father, Kenneth L. Makin of North Augusta, SC; his mother, Shirley Ligon (David) McDavid of Mauldin, SC; brothers, Kenton (Santana) Makin of North Augusta, SC and Denzel Makin of Simpsonville, SC; three uncles, Eddie Makin of Evans, GA, Jerry (Carol) Ligon of Piedmont, SC, and Randolph Ligon of Belton, SC; three aunts, Joyce (Rosco) Campbell of Piedmont, SC, Betty Jean Thomas of Philadelphia, PA, and Elizabeth Sussewell of Greenwood, SC; and countless extended family and friends.
Gravesides services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Oakbrook Memorial Park (Hodges, SC) with the Rev. Milton Blount, Sr. officiating. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
