Rev. James Martin Obituary

It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Reverend James Richard Martin who entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Reverend Martin, a native of Edgefield County was a 1963 graduate of Martha Schofield High School. He worked as an Insurance agent for United Insurance Company of America, American General Life Insurance Company and Delta Life Insurance Company. He was Vice President of the North Augusta Democratic Party and a member of Old Storm Branch Baptist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher.


Survivors include include his wife, Dorothy Davis Martin; a son, Kavin Martin; a daughter, Rahihaan (Darrell) Felder; three brothers, Arthur (Phyllis) Martin, Royland (Lona) Martin and Omar (Saleemah) Shaheed; four sisters, Mozell Parks, Janie Darden, Lula Martin and Patricia (Fred) Bush; three grandchildren, Tamia and Sydney Felder and Tyler Martin; a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Martris Mims officiating. Mask and social distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held from 2-6 pm Friday at the funeral home.

The family regrets that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, home visitation is limited and call before you come.
