It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Reverend Sam Middleton who entered into rest Monday, March 29, 2021.
Reverend Middleton, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Carey Hill Baptist Church .He retired from pastoring after 28 years as pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church and 32 years as pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was also a retiree of the Lily Tulip Cup Company.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie M. Steven Mackie Middleton; three daughters, Julia M. Middleton, Patricia A. Middleton and Marci M. Middleton; three stepchildren, Marie (Winston) Morris, Shrelle V. Grimm and Joe L. (Leslie) Mackie; two brothers, Clarence Middleton and Alonzo (Rosa Lee) Middleton; two sisters, Mary (L.D.) Parks and Gladys Talbert; three aunts, Hattie Lena McCain, Vivian Christian and Thelma (Moses) Stokes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, step grandchildren and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Edgefield with the Rev. David Colvin officiating. Mask and social distancing will be observed. Viewing will be held from 2-6 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Professional Services are under the care of G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary-North Augusta.
