It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mr. Robert J. Hammonds who entered into rest April 14, 2023.
Mr. Hammonds was a 1967 graduate of W. E. Parker High School and a member of Jenkins Memorial CME Church. He retired from Kimberly- Clark Corporation. He was a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Burnett Hammonds; his daughters, Elaine (Jimel) Hammonds-Carpenter, Kimberly Hammond-Williams, Cathy (James) Hammonds-Cooks, Andrene (Robert) Peeples-Lee, and Alicia (Gregory) Peeples-Brown; sons, Eric (Nicole) Peeples and Philip (Kenjila) Hammonds; brothers, David (Catherine) Johnson, Clifton Johnny (CJ) (Rosemary) Mealing, Arthur (Ethel) Johnson, Allen (Christina) Mealing, Isaiah (Veronia) Mealing, Willie James (Damita) Johnson and John Henry (Gail) Mealing; sisters, Blanche (George) Johnson-Roper, Gloria Jean Johnson-Tanks, Johnnie Mae (Vernon) Williams and Julia (Brooks) Quattlebaum; 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 21, 2023 at Jenkins Memorial CME Church, Hephzibah, GA with the Rev. Dr. Carlton K. Taylor, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens. Masks are required. Viewing will be held from 2-5:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
