It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Mrs. Vanessa Holloway.
Vanessa, affectionately known as Van, took her rest on October 24, 2021. She was born in Edgefield, SC to the late Alexander and the late Christine Stevens.
She was educated in the Edgefield County School System during her early years, graduated from North Augusta High and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Phoenix. She was employed with Edgefield County Public Schools until her health declined.
At an early age, she joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Sam Middleton, where she was licensed as a minister. She later joined Trinity Community Church under the leadership of Apostle Anthony Brown, where she served on many committees.
Van loved to sing. She was a songwriter and the founder of Family Productions, LLC and Alex and Christine Family Bible Study on Thursday nights. She was a member of The Hillary Family Bible Study as well as Bible Study for HER on Wednesday nights and Solid Rock Holiness Wednesday Midday Prayer. She was a member of Grace2Do Ministries, ONE Church Fellowship Council, and she assisted in the founding of Spirit of Excellence Ministries.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alexander,Jr.; her sister, Genevieve; and her daughter, Alexandra (Dee).
Van leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Josie Jefferson of North Augusta, SC; one son, Steven Jefferson, Sr. of North Augusta, SC; her other children, Barbara (Eugene) Martin and Apostle Anthony (Marilyn) Brown; one sister, Minister Mattie Hardy of Trenton, SC; two brothers, Jimmy (Karen) Stevens of Trenton, SC and Jesse (Carolyn) Stevens of Aiken, SC; her godchildren, Octavia Crawford and Kenneth Stevens Sr.; family friends, Tresa Taylor and Thelma Jefferson; her 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one uncle, seven aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Professional Services are under the care of G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary-North Augusta.
